Yesterday was so fantastic.
I woke up at 7:30, and rode with my mom to work. I took the bus and walked to Josh's house.
We left at 11am to go to our favorite Pizza Place down in Little Italy, and missed the train by about 45 seconds or less. Big bummer. So what does this crazy couple decide to do? Thats right, walk!
^The little red line is a mile. We probably walked about ten miles all together. The little loop is the cemetery walk.
On the way, we stopped for coffee, took a walk through a cemetery, and visited the Garfield Monument. Even though We've both lived in Cleveland since the womb, he'd never been to the observation deck of the monument. It's the highest land point in the city, making the view pretty spectacular.
^us being tourists in our very own city :)
The pizza was great as always. After, we decided to walk to the Art museum. On the way, our friend drove by and we ran and jumped into his truck bed and hung out at his house for a while. Aging Hippies on his porch never fail to amuse.
From there, we KEPT walking to the art museum to see the new Photography exhibit.
It was closed. Mondays. Go figure. had we walked like ten miles for THAT, I'd have flipped a shit. but it was a nice day, and we laid in the grass for a while, discussing what we'd been up to this past month.
^heinous photo of me, but i still like it.
We ate dinner at Josh's families house, and I made his adorable visiting cousin a monster green ice cream cone. My camera is broken, and now only takes pictures like this. Well, worse than this. This was the best i could MAKE it look. Now if only my dad would remember to find it's warranty.
Either way, it turned out nice and Jacob adored it.
Oh! Oh!
Rosa, Josh and I sipped our wine yesterday. It was rather sour, and didn't seem fermented fully. The rest of the night was spent smoking Josh's new hookah that he bought in Israel for seven dollars. It was my first time, and man do my lungs hate me today.
I'm so glad he's home.
All in all, an awesome day. I couldn't have thought of a better way to spend the day.

HARRY POTTER FEVER
I made a hat to wear tonight to Coventry's Harry Potter festival! I'm going as Dobby, the house elf.
^Anna's idea....
(my friends dad wearing it, sans ears...)
In other news, Nikki and her family rescued the most adorable kitten from the middle of the road! they are going to name the kitten Luna if it's a girl, or perhaps Sirius if it is a boy.

Dawson McAllister, you are an idiot.
I came across Dawson McAllister's radio show months ago, while waiting to pick Josh up from work. It's a 7 hour "faith based" advice show that airs on Sunday nights across the United States. He claims that it's "The Sunday night show that changes everything..." On his page, you can listen to his archives, and read his blogs.
The point I'm trying to make, is that it is the most ridiculous thing you will probably ever hear.
His advice is heavy handed and dramatic, and usually he claims to fix their problem by directing to his website.
One of my favorite callers was this girl who needed advice about loosing her virginity.
"Uh, last night me and my best friend had sex..."
"Well, that's a horrible thing to do to your future husband!"
or
"I hang out with people who do drugs and have sex, and I'm afraid I'll start doing it too."
"Well, If you play an instrument, you might just get music. Do you know what I mean?"
"No..."
"Well, If you are at a barber shop long enough, you WILL get a haircut."
Well Dawson, I'm not sure I follow you either.

I am a dinghead.
I biked to work today, and left my house at 9:55 for work at 11am. Why do i always forget it's only a 20 minute bike ride, and not the North Pole?
Needless to say, i was very early.
So i get home, and drive to the bookstore. I headline straight to the music section, so see if they had the Harry and the Potters CD that I've been wanting since, well last night when they were introduced to me. They didn't.
Naturally, I then checked out the knitting section. I ended up sitting down with a Stephanie Pearl-McPhee book, and laughing my head off. I hightail it to the register, where I promptly realize that I left my wallet in my backpack...at home.
I get home, and as soon as i walk in the door i am greeted with a weird burning smell. Before i left, I'd put some sort of Pizza-Bite thing i found in the freezer into the toaster oven.
It was burnt to a crisp.
I am such a dinghead.

Rasberry Wine
Today, my friend Rosa and i made wine!!!
We followed the instructions in the 3rd issue of Craft magazine, which is awesome by the way.
Has anyone out there in cyber-world tried this tutorial?
We squeezed about half a gallon berries into a sealable jar using cheese-cloth, added plain old yeast and capped it. Now all we have to do is wait about ten days for it to ferment!
I bought a bunch of blueberries, because I haven't had any since I was seven.
thats probably why i didn't remember how un-juice-able they are.
Next time, we're going to use different kinds of berries, most likely from the west side market. Tuesdays is a no go down there, so we had to settle for Costco. It ended up being all right, because we needed ALOT of berries. 36oz or so.
Also, don't tell anyone- all of this was created under the influence of country music.
Oh, and does anyone know what's going on with DaxFlame and LisaNova? This video completely confuses me.

If only Elton John came in pill form, plus socks.
I'm feeling pretty awesome. I was driving home, with "Crocadile Rock" cranked up thinking about how things are going pretty well. My favorite boy in boy in the entire world is coming back from his month abroad! Theres something so perfect about Elton John. It's IMPOSSIBLE to listen to Crocadile Rock, with all it's la, lalalala, la's and not feel good. If they put him in pill form, I'd be doped up on Elton 24/7
Yesterday I was at borders, looking at the new knitting books that had come in. I had texted Rosa, saying they'd gotten new ones. I sat down, and about two minutes later she came and snuck up on me. Either way, we both ended up buying books. She bought the new Harry Potter knitting book, and i bought one of those lion brand books, "Just Socks"because I want to get better at making them. Normally, I'm pretty reluctant about those Lion brand books, because I think that they are secretly trying to form some sort of YARN EMPIRE and I don't want to support that. No seriously though, I firmly believe this. Notice how many books they have, and how many magazines they sponsor. Heck, Joann practically only carries their yarns. It's tough. I have to remind myself that it's 'just yarn."
Anyways, I finished knitting the first sock pattern in the book so fast it didn't even have to appear on my WIP list! They practically jumped off my needles!
I used two strands of Lion Wool-ease held together, in some sort of oatmeal-ish color. I like them though, they look very organic. I pretty much followed the pattern exactly, them being only my second socks ever.
I have a feeling that every time I turn a heel, no matter how many time i do it, I will find it nothing less than magical.
Peace out!

A Sock Virgin No More
I finished these a few days ago.
I bought ONE SKEIN of Blue Sky Alpaca Dyed Cotton while on Vacation to New York City. I bought it at The Yarn Tree, an all natural fiber shop in Brooklyn. It was 20% off, i loved the color and couldn't resist it. I had spent so long deciding on what to buy, that the shop owner offered the people i was with a beer.
Anyways, I was flipping through the Sports issue of Knit 1 magazine, and noticed the socks I'd been meaning to make for a long time required just ONE SKEIN of the EXACT YARN That i bought in Brooklyn!
They have a seed stitch cuff, and a cool hologram-ish button to hold them in place. They are more of a slipper sock, but i can't wait to wear them because they are my first. Socks anyway.
I used to be against sock knitting, because I didn't see the point in spending time on something that just goes on your feet in the end. I sort of still don't understand it's appeal. On the other hand, theres something so utilitarian about it. Knitting for function.

First Post
So, I guess this is my knitting blog.
I feel like I'm taking the stage and whispering into a microphone- testing, one two. testing.
I hope this isn't lame.
Lately, I haven't been knitting anything productive. My friend Rosa and I are trying to start tagging Cleveland with knitting goodies. So far, we've only been semi-successful.
I started off ambitiously, by tagging the giant stegosaurus statue outside of the Natural History Museum. I was told it was removed by the next night.
Next, I started on a series of doorknob cozies.
Those have gone well, despite almost being caught by a home owner.
After that, I tagged a few of the seats on the public transportation system, known as the Rapid in Cleveland.
We're unsure what our next move is, mainly because these attempts have been so pathetic.
I want to make something good, but starting a new project seems so difficult right now. I shouldn't even be knitting.
I start college soon, and i don't know how i feel about that.
more later.
